3 Simple Mantras You Need To Repeat Daily To Fix Your Average Life (ish)
Boom! A new month is upon us! The love month (ew)...
I got pissed and fired my therapist yesterday.
That woman rambled on for 45 minutes as I stared at my computer with my legs twitching below my desk. Halfway through she asked me what I thought of all the points she was making about how I should change my mindset and blah, blah, blah…
“I have no idea what you are talking about,” I replied.
So, I canceled my membership after the call. Ever heard of Betterhelp? Hope not.
Irregardless (which is a word, Ilene), I am Trey and today is the first day of a new month. God I love a new Month. A fresh start with new goals I will forget about in a few days and an excuse to write this newsletter. Lucky you.
January was a good month. I went to St. Pete Beach which I think is a little trashy, hosted my mastermind in Blue Ridge, GA on top of a mountain in an Airbnb that warned us about bears, and joined a CrossFit gym where I watch young folks work harder than me.
Otherwise…
I had coffee with a buddy this morning who is whip-smart and seems to have his shit together. Married, two kids, picket fence. He is a financial advisor, go figure. I don’t have much finance so he has his work cut out for him.
We talked about his kids, my brain, and how relationships are as confusing as Taylor Swift. Since my buddy is successful, I asked him if he sets goals.
“No, not really. I just try to live by a mantra I keep repeating in my mind,” he replied. He was wearing shorts, a surf shop hoodie, and a watch that probably cost as much as four months’ rent where I live.
“Well, what is it?”
I will face all things
Pretty strong. Especially when life is a bitch.
Two other messages have been wiggling around in my brain from two of my clients last month. Part of my job is to help people figure out the main message of their personal brands. Ever thought about what your main message to the world would be? Call me, I’ll help you figure it out. Or sign up for BetterHelp.
The first is from a dude who has written books, speaks everywhere, and has preached at the biggest churches in America. He also coaches the top CEOs across the land. A total badass. He is in his early 40’s with longish silver hair, a soft voice, and hordes of kindness.
His message is…
Focus on the person you are becoming
Interesting. In hard times, good times, odd times, even times…I need to remember to focus on the person I am becoming. RICH, HUGE MUSCLES, AND HILARIOUS. Got it.
Finally, the other dude lives in New Zealand. He has achieved things I could only dream of and is crushing life. In his younger years, he won the world championship for drumming. He is a world-champion drummer. What does that mean? I have no idea but he gets shit done. His message is…
Do The Work
At the end of the day, it all comes down to doing the work. I need to stamp that on my forehead. Simple, true.
Cheers to a new month and the adventures that ensue. Make sure you write down your message or mantra and then try to live by that bad boy. Live your life by principles, not feelings.
Finally, take out a journal and write a letter to God or Buddha or whatever it is you believe is greater than yourself. Here is what I wrote in my journal this morning….don’t judge me.
Trey
PS…I am thinking about writing a shorter version of these emails every day Monday through Friday and curious if people would be interested. Whatta ya think? Could you help me and take the poll below? Love you, mean it…
I oftenly use words irregardless of their correctivity.
It will never be a word to me.
